Overview of the Position

The Franchise Development Associate maintains general responsibility for the implementation of all programs related to Buona Restaurants and Rainbow Cone franchise expansion effort. The individual acting as Franchise Development Associate is also responsible for maintaining and supporting the general operating philosophies and policies of the Buona Restaurants and Rainbow Cone, as well as assisting other departments as necessary to achieve the overall mission of the franchised brand.

Reporting Responsibilities

The Franchise Development Associate reports directly to the Director of Franchising.

Specific Responsibilities

In maintaining the primary responsibility for implementation of the organization’s franchise sales efforts; the Franchise Development Associate must undertake responsibilities including the following:

  • Support all operations and general business policies of the organization, when interacting with franchisees, their managers and employees.
  • Interact with and support the needs of other departments and staff members throughout the organization.
  • Assist in the development and tracking of budgets specific to the organization’s franchise recruitment and sales activities.
  • Assist in the development of strategies for generating qualified franchise leads based on sales performance metrics gathered over time.
  • Work closely with the Franchise Development Coordinator on maintaining the proper flow of communications with prospective franchisees.
  • Implement the franchise sales and qualification process¾including the handling of franchise leads, interviewing franchise candidates, evaluating franchise applications, and awarding franchise contracts.
  • Maintain thorough written and oral communication with prospective franchisees interested in a franchise.
  • Ensure that all communications with prospective franchisees are consistent with the organization’s communications policies, and any and all state or federal laws impacting the sale of franchises.
  • Assist, as required, in the implementation of the organization’s franchise compliance system – ensuring compliance with all federal and relevant state laws governing the franchise sales and relationship process.
  • Interact with outside legal counsel, as necessary, on all activities relating to the organization’s franchise sales efforts.
  • Assist in updating, as necessary, the organization’s FDD, Franchise Agreement, and related documents.
  • Assist franchisees as they prepare to commence operations, and work with others within the organization to implement appropriate pre-opening training and support programs.
  • Participate in annual conventions, seminars or business meetings, and attend franchise grand openings, as directed.

Skills and Additional Requirements

The Franchise Development Associate must be proficient in the use of computers and software utilized throughout the organization including the franchise sales CRM platform used to track franchise candidate communications. From time to time, the Associate will be required to travel in order to visit franchisees, and attend conferences and other functions related to the development of the organization’s franchising efforts.

The Associate must also possess and continue to develop excellent interpersonal skills required to successfully develop internal and external relationships on a variety of levels, initiate new contacts, and maintain harmonious relations with franchisees.
