EPPS develops and supports key platforms and products within LifeWorks, from enterprise platforms to AI and Cognitive apps. Our technology is used across the LifeWorks portfolio of apps, and we follow product-driven agile methodology.

Note: This role can be done remotely in Ontario by a motivated individual, with occasional (e.g. quarterly) travel to Markham for team planning/events.

Job Description

What will I do?

Based on your interests and abilities, you will join one of our product or platform teams to contribute to our cognitive/AI or web products, or support our backend technical platforms (including APIs and other services).

Join team daily stand-ups and sprint planning meetings, help to estimate and break down tasks, and learn the ins and outs of agile development.

Support QA, product documentation, product roadmap discussions, code reviews, bug investigation, deployments and software development (full stack / front-end).

Collaborate with a mentor to setup a learning and development plan for your time with LW, including videos and hands-on training and job shadowing.

What do I need to know?

Be working on a degree like Computer Science, Engineering, or other degree but with similar industry experience in software

Good understanding of fundamentals including OOP, design patterns, REST/web services, coding best practices

Min 6 month coding experience or coursework either in web front-end (React, Angular, TypeScript, Bootstrap), or full stack (Java, C#, Node.js, python, etc.)

Familiarity with tooling like git and swagger/Open API

A hunger to learn, with the ability to flourish in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment

What will help me succeed?

Enjoy tackling tough problems, including complicated production authentication issues or delivering a crucial ticket by sprint’s end

Love learning new technologies, and are always searching for how to improve the dev process

Take ownership for their tickets and sprint commitments all the way to deployment and beyond

Be great team players, collaborating effectively with Product, UX, QA, Delivery, DevOps, etc.

Communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written (French is a bonus)

Learn how a professional dev shop works, including agile development, collaboration with QA/Product/DevOps,

Deepen your experience with dev tooling including git, swagger, Visual Studio, etc.

Lay the foundation for post-graduation roles in software dev, QA, product or business analysis
