We are currently seeking a Business Development Specialist to join our Building Specialty Services Business Unit to create and execute strategy and to lead our business development initiatives. This individual will work with key leaders in our business to identify sales trends, client needs, market insights, and opportunities to secure new projects and clients and build our sales pipeline. Analyzing sales metrics, developing business development strategies and supporting the implementation of these strategies with our local teams is a critical aspect of this role. Working with a diverse team across our markets in Canada and the US, the successful candidate will be a self-starter and be able to build productive working relationships with key individuals across multiple offices.
Our Building Specialty Services practice provides building envelope, energy modeling, sustainability and code and life safety engineering consulting services to building Owners, Developers, Architects and Contractors.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and execute business development strategies that leverage our seller-doer model, expand our reach beyond local markets, and that target national accounts. Lead strategic account process activities for key national accounts.
Analyze sales data by market, client and service; identify opportunities and develop strategy and tactics for sales growth.
Review sales funnel forecast and backlog to ensure departments are expected to continue to grow at appropriate rates.
Identify larger opportunities that would be of specific interest whether these are in our immediate service areas or in remote markets that we service within Canada and the US. Lead the development and coordination of these proposals.
Lead and collaborate on activities between business leaders and seller-doers to support a small number of large strategic accounts. Identify and track large opportunities of particular interest outside of our local markets that are suited to remote delivery and support those pursuits.
Provide guidance and support to our business leaders and seller-doers in local markets in preparation of annual BD plans, strategy and execution.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to help define and develop core messages and value propositions.
Develop and deliver sales training for the business unit in collaboration with Corporate Marketing and Sales (CMS) service unit.
Collaborate with CMS on the development of BD Tips and Tricks communication pieces, to be released at regular intervals.
Coordinate with CMS and help execute elements of service line marketing plans.
Research client and market information to provide insight to our local offices.
Oversee the management of opportunities from online RFP and bid sites.
Essential Skills:

Excellent oral, written, presentation and proposal writing skills with ability to present to internal and external staff and clients
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education ideally in Sales and Marketing or Business Administration
Minimum 10+ years progressive related professional experience
